Who is Fetty Wap?

Who is Fetty Wap?

Fetty Wap is an American Rapper, singer and song-writer. He was born on June 7, 1991. “Fetty Wap” is his stage name and his birth name is Willie Junior Maxwell II. Trap Queen Fetty Wap was born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey. Born with Glaucoma, he lost his one eye childhood, still he managed to attend Eastside High School before dropping out in order to pursue his music career.

Fetty Wap Drug Charges

According to the American Department of Justice, William Junior Maxwell II, known as rapper “Fetty Wap,” was sentenced to six years in federal prison and five years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute cocaine. The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Joanna Seybert in Central Islip. Maxwell was part of a large drug trafficking organization that, between June 2019 and June 2020, distributed more than 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine across Long Island and New Jersey.

The organization sourced drugs from the West Coast and transported them using the U.S. Postal Service and vehicles with hidden compartments, storing them in Suffolk County before redistribution.

Maxwell acted as a kilogram-level redistributor, while co-defendant Anthony Cyntje, a New Jersey corrections officer, transported cocaine to New Jersey and received a 72-month sentence. Searches recovered $1.5 million in cash, large quantities of narcotics, multiple firearms, and ammunition. Other co-defendants pleaded guilty and await sentencing.

The Details of His Release

Fetty was transferred from the Federal Correctional Institution in Sandstone, Minnesota, to home confinement under the supervision of the Philadelphia Residential Reentry Management Office. He is expected to remain under these conditions until November 8, 2026.

The “House Rules”

Life on the outside looks a little different for the 34-year-old star. To stay in the good graces of the feds, Fetty must follow these strict terms:

  • Financial Lockdown: He cannot open any new bank accounts or credit lines without express approval from his probation officer.
  • Total Transparency: The “679” singer must provide full disclosure of all his earnings, financial records, and tax returns to the U.S. Probation Department.
  • Sober Living: The terms include a strict “no drugs, no alcohol” policy. He is subject to regular, mandatory drug testing and may be required to participate in an outpatient treatment program.
  • Travel Restrictions: While he’s reportedly back in New Jersey to be near family, his movement is limited. Any travel outside of pre-approved areas requires a green light from his supervisors.
  • GPS Monitoring: Like most high-profile home confinement cases, he is expected to wear a GPS ankle monitor to track his location 24/7.

Why is Fetty Wap Released Early?

In the past, Fetty Wap was sentenced to 5 years in 2023. The actual date of his release was November 8, 2027. However, he was released earlier on home imprisonment and strict terms. But many people are wondering why he is released earlier?

The release of Fetty Wap happened thanks to provisions in the “First Step Act” which was signed by president Donald Trump in 2018 which allows early-release programs and overhauled sentencing standards for drug- related crimes.

What’s Next for Fetty Wap?

Once his home confinement wraps up in November, Fetty isn’t exactly “home free.” He will begin five years of supervised release, during which many of these financial and sobriety checks will remain in place.

In a statement following his release, Fetty shared that his “focus is on giving back” through his community initiatives and supporting at-risk youth. His label, 300 Entertainment, even shared a video of the rapper receiving a warm welcome at their New York City office shortly after his transfer.
